State lawmakers are moving ahead with legislation intended to curb the opioid epidemic in Oklahoma. 

The Senate passed a comprehensive measure Thursday that includes more than $15 billion in emergency aid for the Hurricane Harvey relief effort and extends the debt ceiling and government funding for three more months.

Oklahoma lawmakers have sent letters to state agencies requesting they give hypothetical results for a more than 3 percent budget cut. 

A state Senate committee passed a bill to give teachers pay increases without figuring out a way to pay for the raises. 

Congress on Wednesday passed a GOP-sponsored spending bill officially averting a government shutdown.

The Senate Appropriations Committee passed a long list of bills Wednesday including House Bill 2472, which gives district attorney’s more discretion in charging people with felonies or misdemeanors.
